Baristo Coffee, introducing Baristo University - a national barista university, aiming to train Bulgarian baristas (bartenders, proficient in coffee brewing) at world-class level, as well as to increase the overall level of espresso culture in Bulgaria. The project comes to life through our partnership with Italian Barista School, who's experts train and provide certification for the teachers of Baristo University.
At the end of April, 2015 the first group of 10 Buglarian specialists was trained. The courses were lead by Carlo Idelo and Paolo Simone - leading italian authorities in coffee making and tasting.
"The next step for Baristo University is to train the personel of all places who offer baristo coffee. This will guarantee a high standard and quality vested in every cup of baristo, regardles of where it's served." This was stated by the CEO if Enco Vending and initiatior of the project Baristo University, Stoyko Petkov. He also added: "Soon after this we will welcome everyone, who wishes to either trin professionaly or even just improve their coffee awareness and culture."
Training of our in-house professionals took part in two rounds - preparing italian espresso and cappuccino and Italian Coffe Art - a specialized course for preparing coffee coctails. The Bulgarian experts also undertook an extra module for practicing tutoring activities.
The training itself was based fully on coffee selections by baristo. In order for this to take place, the Italian experts of Italian Coffee Institute coomenced a pre-sessional degustation of the different baristo blends.
The Italian Expers
Carlo Odelo is the director of Italian Tasters - Centro, Studi Assaggiatori, a leading taster kompany in Italy, also a lecturer in the International Institute of Coffee Tasters and communication manager for The National Italian Espresso Institute. Mr. Odelo is an expert in coffee sampling. Ten years ago Carlo and a group of renouned experts created the Italian Coffee Institute, aiming to spread Italian espresso culture. In the last ten years him and his team travel the world and spread their knowledge of Italian espresso with the world.
Paolo Simone is a professional barista and mentor, with great passion for coffee. He has spent years on perfecting his craft of making Italian espresso. Coffe hybrids, taste and baking techniques are targets of his experimentation whilst managing three privately owned coffe shops in North Italy. His services include consultancy for coffee maker around the wolrd for the preparation of belnds, baking methods and quality control. Paulo has devoted several years in London to becoming a professional barista - this inspires him to experiment and create trademark coctails. Naturally with espresso coffee.
